Friday Finish and start

I have finished a little project for my Neighbour. Her husband passed away suddenly from a stroke two year ago. It has taken her a while to clear out his cupboard. She asked me if I could make cushion covers from his shirts.
She grouped together three set of colours that she wanted as cushions. We had a fun afternoon looking at different patchwork patterns and she chose the Crystal star, the hands of friendship and the Ohio Star.
I tried really hard to make these as neat and straight as possible for her. I don't want her to regret asking me to do this.
I hope she will like these.

Another little commission I am working on is a Christmas stocking.
The brief is Christmassy but not too much. These are the fabrics I chose. There are Christmas fabrics but also just normal dress fabrics and the lesser spotted Christmas Camper van.

Have a good weekend.

Sunday sewing.

This morning I used some child free time to make a little cushion. This lovely Elephant print by Valorie Wells from her Karavan range was just screaming out to be a cushion.
It would have been so cruel to cut into the elephants. I left the fat quarters in tact as much as I could.
One more item to cross off my to do list. Mind you Husband has just asked me to make him a wash bag, so the list has not gotten any shorter.

Pretty in pink

I have been asked to make pink cushion for  little girl who likes pink. Having seen the picture of her bedroom she is wasn't kidding when she said she liked pink.

I hope she will like her new cushion when it is finished.

Craft fair the saga continues

I made some more things for the craft fair. A little Christmas table topper
Some cushions. My eldest loves the green and red one. She even offered me £5 from her piggy bank. I guess I had better make one for her.
My dad would like the yellow and blue cushion. I fear he will have to fight youngest child for it though, if I don't sell it. I still hope that I will sell some things.
Because as much as I love my bags I can't have 10 of them.
I also worry that people lie to me when they say that the things I make as saleable. What if they say this only to be kind.
Pricing worries me a little too. I have been checking on Etsy and Dawanda and even local shops.
I have come to the conclusion that I probably won't make money but I  might make bak the cost of the fabrics. Hope I sell something....

Cushions cushions everywhere

I seem to have made lots cushions. This is one for my Mother. She likes Autumnal colours
Look I made a swoon block on the other side of her cushion. Unfortunately the colours blend a bit too much for my liking.
 These are the daughters' cushions.

Apparently I need to make some more for them to match with all their quilts. Well yes fine but they will soon have too many cushions to fit in their beds. Maybe I'll just make cushion covers and not buy anymore pads.

Union Flag

This is proto type flag. It's not as easy as it looks to make a Union flag. It gave me quite a headache. As you can see I will need to trim a few bits (oops). I want to make a cushion for a friend who is emigrating. I thought if she is feeling in need of the UK she can always turn to her cushion. ;-)

I am going to have a go at another flag in more pinky and pale blue for her daughter. Maybe that one won't need trimming.

Sorry for poor picture quality. I couldn't find my camera and i-phone just can't cope with grey skies.

Two more orphans rehomed.

I made string quilts for the dolls. I then thought making a full size one would be nice. Somehow it never happened. Today I decided to use noodlehead's tutorial and turn my orphan quilt square into a pencil case.
I think it's pretty fab. I have started using it for my take along sewing project aka hexagons.
Another orphan quilt square has become a cushion. There are quite a lot of fabrics going on here but the client (daughter 1) asked for it this way.
My guilty conscience is feeling a lot lighter.
