Monochrome

This is a quilt I am making for my parents. My daughters think it is terribly boring.

More

More zippy purses. Sorry for the poor picture quality but the light here is not too good at the moment. I will try and take some better pictures but waiting for better light might mean June :-) .

Flower garden.

I have quilted and bound my youngest daughter's flower garden quilt. The fabrics are mostly Emma's flowers. My daughter thinks this is great, as her middle name is Emma. She clearly made the right choices.
As you can see we are struggling a little with photographing. It's raining and not just a little bit. The chief quilt holder upper is away today, so no help there.
One pleased little girl who told me tonight as I tucked her in that a matching pillow case might be nice. Oh and a cushion. We'll see.
The small black puppy (how long are you allowed to call them puppies?) likes the quilt too. Even if sleeping on sofas is not strictly speaking allowed.

I used Stiched in color's colour brick tutorial for the design, it's 2.1m by 1.45m wide.

Purses and pencil cases

I seem to be doing lots of little things at the moment. I have 3 quilts to quilt and one black and white one to finish. Instead I am procrastinating. Not completely though.  You can just see a little peak of a quilt waiting by the machine.
For the end of term the girls asked me to make pencil cases for their teachers, so I started doing that.
Also my mother asked me to make 10 zippy purses for her to keep her necklaces in (mother makes jewllery as  a hobby). So I have cut lots of fabric this week for making purses. Now I am just waiting for the zips.

I hope to have finished one quilt by next Friday maybe (fingers crossed two).

I am linking to Crazy Mom quilts Friday finish.

It was meant to be an Easter Bunny

It arrived late. I ran out off time before we went away. I used this tutorial by Betz White. I used a piece of left over fleece and the tail is from an old wooly hat. The bunny needs eye attachment surgery but none of the buttons I have are good enough. We will have to raid Oma's button box.

Back from Easter holidays.

 We are back.
We went to my in-laws for Easter. Before we went I had to make more chickens.
Or should I say chicks? The girls wanted to give some to friends as Easter presents.

Here they all are. Photos courtesy of youngest child.

Coin purse

Red purse. Matches the red nail varnish
The daughters liked my pencil case but that is mine. I am however a soft touch and they look at me with their big blue eyes and I like making thinks. They have got coin purses. Ideal for tuck money
Youngest with her funky purse.
I used noodlehead's tutorial. I changed it a little as the girls wanted slightly smaller purses. The final purse is 3" by 5.5".
inspecting the name label. Thank goodness it is the right name.
Daughter 2 likes the spotty lining. I stitched their names in, to prevent loss at school.
Made by label
I had some labels printed by Mommie made it. I think they turned out really well. My eldest likes the labels because if I make little purses for her friends they won't be able to claim their mummy made it.

Two more orphans rehomed.

I made string quilts for the dolls. I then thought making a full size one would be nice. Somehow it never happened. Today I decided to use noodlehead's tutorial and turn my orphan quilt square into a pencil case.
I think it's pretty fab. I have started using it for my take along sewing project aka hexagons.
Another orphan quilt square has become a cushion. There are quite a lot of fabrics going on here but the client (daughter 1) asked for it this way.
My guilty conscience is feeling a lot lighter.
