Nothing left.

Mr Frederica sometimes worries that I buy too much fabric. He is worried, or so he claims, that our house does not have the structural integrity to take the weight of all the fabric. He was therefore very pleased that I have used up the entire 50cm of this pretty flowery print.

Technically it hasn't left the house and the weight issue therefore is not gone but he hasn't worked that out yet. Please don't enlighten him.
As mentioned previously Daughters 1 and 2 are now at a new school. At this new school there are outdoor shoes and indoor shoes. The outdoor shoes need a shoe bag. Daughter 1 told me this on Thursday, so I had quite a lot of notice. Daughter 1 made the felt flower for me to pretty up her bag. (on the accuquilt)
Daughter 2 however forgot that she too needs a shoe bag. She only told me when I was half way through making this bag. Guess what I'll be doing tonight.

The remaining meadow print fabric was used to make this little cushion. Daughter 1 did the cross stitch and used the sewing machine to sew it together. With my help. I am not letting her lose on my Pfaff without supervision. Although I didn't supervise her closely enough. She managed to drop the feed dogs and found sewing rather tricky. After making the acquaintance of the un-picker and a lengthy sermon on why you don't press buttons without may say so, the cushion was completed.
She is very proud of her work and so am I. She has poor eyesight and not stereo vision; as a result she is rather clumsy. I hope this cushion gives her more confidence to tackle other crafty projects.

I am off to choose fabrics from the stash for daughter 2. Have a good rest of Sunday.

Made by my daughter

My youngest has finished her first cross stitch project (Permin My first cross stitch kit). It did take almost a year to finish but it's done.
She has made it into a little 20cm cushion. The panda fabric was bought at Lady sew and sew. I cut it to size. The thought of letting an eight year old lose with a rotary cutter scared me. I pined it and she used my sewing machine to sew it together.
Under close supervision, I don't just let any one use my beloved Pfaff you know, and on the slowest setting.
Penny the panda is very happy with her new cushion.

Embroidery

Last year was not a good year for my family. My three grandparents died, Husband's uncle passed away and another of Husband's aunt's divorced. So a bit like that film with Hugh Grant but different :-)

I inherited some embroidery from my Grandma.

Butterflies
I remember the butterflies, they always used to hang near the door to the kitchen.
This one I can not remember seeing. My father found it when he and my aunts were clearing the house. It's very long and tiny cross stitch.
Father remembers my grandmother making it. He really loves it. I like it because the colours go well in our living room. :-)
This is the one I really love. I feel slightly guilty about that because I know it wasn't made by my grandmother. I was made by one of her friends. She passed away a long time ago. I know we went to see her in hospital when I was 8. She was still stitching then even though she had really bad rheumatism. She was a lovely lady as far as I can recall.

The problem with the bell pull with the chickens is that it's a bit grubby. I did hang next to the door and generations of grandchildren and great grandchildren have put their little sweaty prints over it. It's at least 38 years old probably older. It would have been nice if they had been signed and dated. I now understand my quilting teacher being on at us to label things.  How to wash it though. I don't want to ruin it. But I would like it not grubby. Dilemma.

Been busy.

I have been busy but probably not as busy as I could have been. Husband had to use up holidays, so I have been busy looking after him.
Giant coaster

I have made a large coaster out of the left overs form my mother's place mats. I just need to bind it and it will be a nice surprise Christmas present.
Daffodil cross stitch
I was looking for thread in the embroidery basket I have inherited. I found this little kit in the basket. It's tiny little stitches. I have put a 2Euro cent coin next to it for scale. Not sure what I'll do with it. But enjoying making it.
Flower girls
I have had a go at teaching the daughters how to do blanket stitch. I didn't realise how difficult it is for little sweaty hands to do this. But they did it quite well I think.
I like these little fairies and I am thinking of getting some white felt and making little angels for the Christmas tree.
Anchor cross stitch kit
More treasures were found in my rummage through the embroidery basket. I should take a picture of the basket. Note to self.
Man/shirt quilt
Husband had a sulk that he is neglected in the quilt stakes. He wanted a manly quilt though. I was clearing the cupboards to things to the charity shop. I decided that the cuffs were too worn for a lot of his shirts. The charity shops can be quite picky. So the perfect solution a quilt made from his old shirts. I have made 15 blocks so far, 45 to go.

Other than that I have been busy getting the house in order. We need to puppy proof.
