Fabric Friday

I had hoped to have a Friday Finish. Alas it is not going to happen.

I did finish something this week but that was on Tuesday.

Are these owls cute or what? This basket has gone to live with a friend. I hope she likes it. The colours don't come out well on this picture but it has been bad weather here all week. 

The reason why I didn't finish anything is because of the weather. You may have heard on the news that Oxfordshire is flooded. Thankfully we are not affected. We live on higher ground. Some of the routes to work and school round here have been closed though. This has meant more traffic. It took me three hours on one day to drop the girls at school. I hope the flooding will pass soon. 

I do adore alliteration though so I give you: 

Fabric Friday. 

I was a good girl last year and used up lots of fabric. 2013 was the year of the one in one out, so these fabrics were allowed. 

Rowan fabrics in red. I love red but it also scares me and I don't often use it. I am going to use the aqua fabric with these reds. I just need to finish the scrappy trip quilt and then I can start on this one.

Maybe next week? I only have 16 more scrappy trip blocks to make. Probably not. I also need to make two blouses. It seems that my daughters don't just outgrow one item, they outgrow their whole wardrobe. Who would have thought?

Work in Progress Wednesday-scrappy trip.

I have made some progress today. I made seven blocks today. I am worried that I am getting scrappy tripped out. After my first scrappy trip quilt I thought I could make loads more scrappy trip quilts. It was quick easy, used up lots of stash. Now I am not so sure. I like this one but it is such slow going. Maybe it's all the blue. Maybe it's that thought that I am only half way through. I will carry on. I hate UFO's.

Sometimes playing with lay outs inspires me to do more. I must get on and do some more.

Happy 2014

A quick round up of 2013. All in all not too shabby.

There were 10 quilts quilted (I don't seem to have a picture of one of them). There is one quilt top in need of quilting and only one UFO.

There were 14 placemats, one table topper and two mug rugs. An untold number of purses, pencil cases, make up bags, wash bags and tissue holders. Two handbags and 12 baby bibs.

For the daughters I made 6 tiered skirts, two dresses and two pleated skirts. I also made them a swim bag each, a PE kit bag bag and a shoe bag each. That is a total six drawstring bags and two more for my friend's daughters.

I also made six fabric baskets (must blog about them they are cute.) and a skirt for myself. All in all 2013 was quite productive.

One thing I didn't manage to do was make a dress for myself. This is firmly on the agenda for 2014. I have the pattern and the fabric, so no excuses.

The plan for 2014:

• Dress for me
• More skirts for me (the first one was a success, so need to make some more)
• quilts for four family members. 
• finish the UFO 
• Quilt the starry might quilt. 
• Make two outfits for "space day" at school (why do teachers think that we want to do this?)
• Make clothes for my daughters. This seems to be an ongoing thing they keep growing.

It's been a while

 I have been silly busy. There have been carol concerts, school fetes, a craft evening and a two Christmas parties and several birthday parties.
Some small projects were completed. The weather tissue holder for my Dad

Teacher presents were mug rugs this year. The children chose the fabrics. I am not sure I would have gone with the red Christmas tree. 

I have also done some sewing for a couple of commissions. I will post pictures of those when they are finished.

Monday Making

I am making this little table topper for Christmas. Not sure we can get much more Christmassy than  stars and Pine trees.

Husband has a day of today and I promised to help move wood into the wood store. Hopefully more sewing soon.

Sunday Sewing and small blog meet.

 I have been stupidly busy this week. There has been an Advent Assembly to attend, then the traffic on the A34 was so bad one day that I might as well not have bothered trying to go anywhere. (the diversions were the route I take to pick up the daughters). I volunteered to help at the Christmas Fayre, so that was three days of not seeing my beloved Pfaff.

 Today however I found my sewing machine. The daughters did their homework on the table I was sewing at. Not always the easiest way to sew. I used my cute Japanese fabrics to make some purses for a Craft evening I am attending.

 I love this super cute box corner pouch. You can get so much in them. I thought it would make a great little first aid pack.

 I think you need to be cold hearted to not love these little girls in Kimono.

 I just need to find a popper stud for the purse on the right.

Daughter 2 "needs" one of the kimono girl purses. I don't see her need as much as she does. But they are lovely.

Busy getting ready for Christmas.

 It's been a busy week. I made a skirt for myself and the oldest daughter (sorry no pictures yet). I sewed a load of little purses (all presents, so again no pictures) and these gorgeous placemats. You can't really tell on the photo but the blue is sparkly and glittery.

 This is what my table looked like today. My mother would like a Christmas table topper, so I am sewing up some stars and pine trees. Well that is the plan. 

I have also managed to make husband his wash bag. I hope he realises how much I love him. Not only was he allowed free reign over the stash but when he chose the lovely Heaven and Helsinki print I didn't object. He will have to show it off at every opportunity though and praise my skills.  Well there has to be something in this for me.

I am waiting for the Domino's man to come. Daughter 2 has asked for it as a birthday treat. They don't get fast food very often, so this is exciting. The fact that it is being delivered possibly more than the food itself.
